And it would be nice if Directv didnt act so dismissive when customers report problems to their call center. If they would just LISTEN to a customer explain the problem, and get the right people involved, they might understand this problem so that they could correct it. It would be nice if Directv acknowledged this and fixed it. Networks are providing Directv with information about upcoming shows, but Directv is making a mistake in the way they process this information. This was either the result of a bug in the software or because it was taken away by accident. This DVR software/firmware capability was clearly taken away. However, when I talk to the Directv call center, their only objective is to get me off the phone as quickly as possible by saying there is nothing we can do about this. And I know it used to work this way because I used to use it all the time. Other Directv customers have reported this same problem elsewhere on this forum. Also, they refuse to acknowledge that the search did not always work this way. However, they dont acknowledge that no customer would possibly want the search function to work this way. Ive called Directv about this, and everyone there says its supposed to work that way. It was a nice feature that was taken away. This part of the search is now worthless. Now, however, when you search for a an actor, the list of search results shows ALL episodes of certain talk shows even though the actor is not scheduled to appear in them, and is not listed in the cast and crew.

Among the search results would be individual upcoming talk shows that the actor is scheduled to appear on. On Directv DVRs, you use to be able to search for an actor/actress and see all upcoming programs that they are listed in as part of the cast and crew. It might have been around the time when the search capability changed from being called search to being called smart search. Several months ago, a major part of the Directv DVR search capability stopped working correctly.
